Governor Frank Keating Endorses Shane Jett for State Senate

“During my first campaign for Governor, I met Shane Jett in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Shane was a freshman from OBU and the youngest person in the room. I was very impressed with this bright young man from Tecumseh. Shane worked tirelessly on our campaign and later interned in my office. It was no surprise 10 years later to see Shane elected as the first Republican in State history to House District 27.

I am pleased to endorse Shane Jett for State Senate. Shane served in the Legislature during the economic crisis of 2008. That experience will be invaluable in the post COIVD-19 economic recovery for our State. I am confident that Shane will use that experience as well as his military leadership training and his business and finance background in the private sector to guide our state during the coming months. Shane Jett is the right man for the job!” stated Governor Frank Keating.

“Shane is a lifelong Republican and a true conservative with a vision for Oklahoma. We need someone with his experience and conservative values to lead our state through the tough economic recovery ahead,” said Keating. “The people of Senate District 17 need a leader who can effectively advocate for them at the Capitol. Shane Jett will be that leader.”

“I am truly grateful for Governor Frank Keating’s endorsement. I have tremendous respect for him and his family. Having his endorsement means a lot to me!” Jett said.

Jett is a fifth generation Oklahoman who grew up working in his father’s auto repair shop in Tecumseh. He is a business graduate from Oklahoma Baptist University, a former intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. Currently, Jett is the CEO of a financial institution that makes commercial loans focusing on economic development and job creation. He and his wife Ana are now raising their three daughters in Shawnee and attend Immanuel Baptist Church.

Shane Jett Running for State Senate District 17

Republican Shane Jett announces his candidacy for State Senate District 17. The district includes northern Pottawatomie County and eastern Oklahoma County.

“I never run to oppose another candidate, but rather run for an opportunity to serve our community based on the skills and experience I have to offer. Since I left public service in 2010, I have dedicated myself to fostering job creation in Oklahoma and serving my country in the United States Navy. After prayerful consideration, I am compelled to run for this seat.” Jett said.

Born in Shawnee, he worked his way through Oklahoma Baptist University earning a Business degree. He has certificates in leadership from Harvard. Has completed Commercial Lending School at the Oklahoma Bankers Association and will graduate this June from the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at The Wharton School of Business. Currently, Jett is the CEO of a financial institution that makes commercial loans focusing on economic development and job creation.

In 2016, President Donald Trump appointed Jett to the US Treasury CDFI Fund Community Development Advisory Board where he serves as Chairman On multiple occasions, Jett has been invited by the Trump administration to share his expertise in Native American and military affairs. Most recently Jett participated in a conference for Contemporary Native American Military Veterans at the Whitehouse. Jett is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

Fluent in three languages, Jett served 11 year as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Navy Reserve. Jett believes military training uniquely prepares elected officials for public office. “When we put on the uniform; gender, race, religion and politics fade to the background, and we focus on the mission. Our mission at the State Legislature is putting the interests of Oklahomans first.”  Jett is the only candidate for Senate District 17 with Military service.

As a former State Representative, Jett was the first Republican elected to Oklahoma House District 27 serving for 6 years. Jett is a lifelong Republican. “I didn’t register as a Republican to run for public office, I registered as a Republican the day I turned 18.”

Jett’s faith is important to him. He has been involved in mission activities and has been a member of an international Bible distribution ministry since the age of 21. He has spoken in churches across central Oklahoma raising money to distribute Bibles across the country. The Jett family are members of Immanuel Baptist Church of Shawnee.

While working in Brazil, Shane meet the love of his life, Ana, at church. Ana worked as a public-school teacher in Brazil and with children with disabilities in the USA. The Jetts now have three beautiful daughters, Raquel (15) and Esther (11) Sarah (5). Next year they will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary.
